Storing up treasures in heaven

Storing up treasures in heaven
S - Matt 6:19-27  ( NASB)
19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
...
24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

25 For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

O - God has revealed these profound and simple words through his son Jesus, because he knows our struggles and toils.  In some way we toil due to our own sin and separation from God, it is our curse as we were kicked out of of Eden.  Jesus' instruction is drawing us back to the promises of living under God's full dominion as it was in the Garden of Eden.  The peace that comes from simply focusing on our relationship with God and relationship with others is freeing from the constant worry about our provision, which can lead to us storing up treasures for fear we will run out.  Therefore it is out of fear that we begin guarding our treasure and our heart begins focusing on the treasure instead of God and our relationships.

A -  The application for me is to strike out again for freedom from the growing bondage that is finances and my treasures here on earth.   I must once again place my trust in God for my families full provision, and start storing up heavenly treasures and not earthly treasures.   Heaven treasures being relationship building things with Christ, my wife, my girls, and those God places in my life.

P - Dear heavenly Father, Lord I pray for help in turning my head toward your heavenly treasures, and away from the worries of treasures of this world.  I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
