S - Acts 2:41-42 (NASB)
41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls .42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

O - The beginning of the Church is always a good vision to correct back to when thinking of how we are  to "be".    Once saved ,  we are to receive his word and be baptized  devoting ourselves to God's teaching, to fellowship with one another, and to prayer.

A - In this season, I feel God is showing me this through our small group,  I must continue to trust in His leading us to grow in fellowship, and prayer with one another, so we may grow and sharpen ourselves in our understanding of his role for us in the body of Christ.

P -  Dear Lord, thank you for exercising my heart and mind to think up on things of and from you.   I pray for a restoration of clarity of purpose, confidence of calling, and peace of knowing you are my god and are in control.

Serving humbly with love

Serving humbly with love
S - 1 Peter 4:7-11 (NASB)
7 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer .8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.9 Be hospitable to one another without complaint.10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen

O - Service with humble and positive spirit is the calling of Christ.   To serve with love, without complaint,  using our gifts and strengths that God has given is the key to every Godly endeavor.   Our words should match our actions, and our attitudes.  Peter here is exhorted the early church that in all that we do we are to look to serve one another, and in order to cover what is ultimately our nature and flaws we simply need to cover them with our love,  putting on Christ,  even when our flesh is driving us another direction.

A - The application for me to put on Christ each day and humbly serve with love.   If I continue to do this and cast my anxiety on God,  releasing and dieing to my fleshing desires and concerns I can continue to be a light in a dark .

P - Lord thank you for your word and encouragement today.  Help me Lord to cast all my anxiety on you and trust in your ways to humbly serve with love.   I pray lord you help remove any callousness that may have built up over my heart and mind in this past season.  I pray to be able to see the truth of who you are in me, and that you would restore and strengthen my confidence in my calling to serve the people and places you have me.  I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.

Seeking to serve the least of these

Seeking to serve the least of these
 S- Matt 25:34-40 (NASB)
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink?38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?39 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?'40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

O - Jesus's parable's in and near this scripture tell of our role to serve God and serve others.  The neat thing about it Jesus, shows by serving others, we are serving Him.    Our heart , is to be attuned to the heart of God, and God cares deeply for those in need of Him and His love and provision.

A -  The application for me is to be looking to serve those in need around me, not avoid the needy.   I must look at those who are hungry, in need of physical provision, in need of fellowship as they face this life.  I am  to lavish them with the love that Jesus has lavished upon me.   To those who have made mistakes and are paying the cost today, and struggling through their punishment I am to be there to share the light and truth of Jesus,   and when someone is sick I am to visit them and provide them with companionship, prayer and comfort.

P - Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's devotion may it be sealed to my heart.  I pray Lord that you would keep doing a good work in me through your spirit in me,  through your word, and through the godly men nd women you have placed in my life.    Lord help me to see those in need and provide your love and support to them.    Help me not fear or shrink away from an opportunity to serve.
