S - 1 Sam 8:7-9 (NASB)
And Samuel prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people regarding all that they say to you, because they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being King over them. 8 Like all the deeds which they have done since the day that I brought them up from Egypt even to this day—in that they have abandoned Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you as well. 9 Now then, listen to their voice; however, you shall warn them strongly and tell them of the [b]practice of the king who will reign over them.”
O - This is a great reminder of the nature of men even those of us who start off following God. God is with us but after some time we begin wanting others to lead us and in this case the Israelites wanted a King to be like the other countries around them. But God warns them of the danger of wanting a King. As we all know the story they will receive good kings and bad kings and none until Jesus comes, will reign over them the way God wants them to live.
A- I am reminded myself that I can't chase after the kings of the world, but rather follow the one true King of Kings, Jesus. He is the Lord of my life and will lead me to the promised land for my life. He is a humble king, who shows grace and mercy , even when not deserved.
P - Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's lesson, may it be sealed to my heart. I pray Lord that you would be the Lord of my life and that I would daily and moment by moment lead me, helping me here your voice and know your ways. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
