S- 1 Cor 10:11-13 (NASB)
11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 12 Therefore let the one who thinks he stands watch out that he does not fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, [e]so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
O - Paul is speaking of times in which the Israelites had failed God prior to Christ. They had followed idol's and where punished, and had fallen to the temptation to sin. But Paul exhorts the Corinthians that no temptation has overtaken you that isn't common to man and God is faithful and will make a way for you to resist the temptation. Thus it is possible to resist the temptations of the devil and rebuke the demons that tempt you and therefore defeat the enemy's plan.
A - The application for me is to recognize that my own sin, my falling into pornography and sexual sin was common to man. I have the word of God and the Holy Spirit in me to help resist the temptation of sin. I must remember this scripture when I am tempted and seek God's way ought of the temptation.
P -Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's lesson may it be sealed to my heart. I pray Lord that you continue to show me the way to resist the temptation of sexual sin and defeat the enemy of my soul. I pray this is in Jesus' name, amen.
