Prophetic mystery of the promise of salvation for the gentiles
S - Acts 15:13-19 (NASB)
“Brethren, listen to me. 14 Simeon has related how God first concerned Himself about taking from among the Gentiles a people for His name. 15 With this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written,
16 ‘AFTER THESE THINGS I will return,
AND I WILL REBUILD THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID WHICH HAS FALLEN,
AND I WILL REBUILD ITS RUINS,
AND I WILL RESTORE IT,
17 SO THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD,
AND ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME,’
18 SAYS THE LORD, WHO MAKES THESE THINGS KNOWN FROM LONG AGO.
19 Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, 20 but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

O - I am honestly just not sure what my observation is.  This verse is a quote of James, Jesus' brother who is now leading the church in Jerusalem, which seems somewhat strange to me given he was not one of the 12 disciples or an Apostle. He did however see Jesus after the resurrection and received the holy spirit at pentecost, so it is not so far fetched that he could be leading.  The decision he is laying out here is so fundamental to the future church I find it still not resolveable why He is the decision authority.  I am sure further study would reveal this.
I am excited for His conclusion because it ultimately led to my salvation and presenting the Gospel throughout the world.

A - The application for me today is not to stop seeking to understand God and His word and ways.  As I have grown to know the character of God, and His ways, it is consistent with who I know Him to be that salvation is for all of mankind, unveiling the mystery of how He revealed this to us is something I need to continue to research and study so I can know Him better.

P - Dear heavenly Father, please continue to speak into my life as to how this message today is to help me to know you.  Help me to understand more clearly the meaning and purpose behind why James quotes the prophets as He does, and how that is applicable to the gentiles and myself.  I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
