Teaching and Jesus did

Teaching and Jesus did
S - Luke 21:37 (NASB)
37 Now during the day He was teaching in the temple, but at evening He would go out and spend the night on the mount that is called Olivet. 38 And all the people would get up early in the morning to come to Him in the temple to listen to Him.

O - My observation is that Jesus had made his final journey to Jerusalem, and was daily teaching in the temple, it sounds like all day long.  He had given them parables of who they were, who would be saved, who was evil, and many understood, many were convicted and still rejected who he was, and many more came to know the truth.   Here in Luke 21 we see Jesus teaching on the end times and less in parables, describe how it will be for those who don't believe, and instruction for those who do.  The observation is one of awe in that though Jesus came to Jerusalem to ultimately die on the cross for our sins,  he spent a good number of days teaching very directly many truths,  because His ultimate persecution and sacrifice.    The real observation is this, Jesus ministered all day in the temple, but retreated to the Mount Olivet at night, presumably to rest, pray and prepare for the next day.

A - The application for me is to learn from Jesus ministry how I am to model myself.  The first lesson is when the ultimate or pinnacle challenge comes,  be not fearful but press in at the center.  Jesus went to the temple itself and proclaimed clear and direct truth.   There are culminating moments in ministry and life that I need to boldly with truth and love press in and ensure truth is heard.   The second lesson is one of press in and retreat.  The retreat back to a place where recovery and preparation can occur.

P - Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's lesson, may it be sealed to my heart.  I pray Lord that you would guide me in your ways of ministry, in pressing in and retreating as appropriate, and in speaking truth in love.
