Justified by faith
S - Romans 5:1-5 (NASB
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us
O - God has always justified by faith, crediting to those who simply believe and trust in him. With Abraham, Moses, David, and finally Jesus we have great examples to follow. This scripture in Romans reminds us to not only hope in glory of God during times of blessing but during times of trial. Because out of trial we grow our faith and hope in God and not in our own abilities. We begin to trust in His promises and learn to follow His Holy Spirit which He has given to us.
A - The application for me is to recognize how it is easy to get away from the example of God's extravagant love and grace upon us. That he requires nothing of us but our trust. He doesn't even require our love, for He died for us while we were still sinners. We cannot take on any part of our salvation for ourselves, and we must be careful to not put on any further requirements for others when we share God's love.
P - Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your gift of love and grace. I pray Lord that you would help me to share your love with others in a way that does not burden them but draws them to you. I pray Lord that you help prepare the soil of their hearts to receive, and give me courage to share even when it is not apparent the soil is ready. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
