The Good shepherd
S - John 10:11 (NASB)
11 “ I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.12 He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me
...
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
O - Jesus is the the one and only true Good shepherd of God's people. For many of us we have looked for good shepherds to follow our whole life, and while their are shepherds that are worth following, Jesus is the true good shepherd, and the only on capable of shepherding our lives in a way that gives us eternal life and restoration of relationship with God the Father.
A - The application for me today is to rejoice in knowing the truth's of who Jesus is, the good shepherd. He is the only one worthy of following, and if I stay focused on his voice and his leading He will not leave me, or allow me to be snatched away. I can trust in Him and that He will lead me to good pasture.
P- Dear heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus, my good shepherd. Thank you for your eternal hand on my life. I pray that you would help me to follow your voice and shepherding in my life, and grow in trust in confidence in you and not in me. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
