Increasing our longing for the Lord
S - Isaiah 30:18
18 Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him.
O - These words of Isaiah are word of comfort after heavy words of warning about the fact that God will allow some to be exiled, some to wander to Egypt, and some to be taken away forever amongst the tribes of Israel. Despite these circumstances around them, Isaiah helps them understand what a gracious God they have, one in which is waiting to have compassion on those who long for Him.
A - The application for me is recognize I need to find/renew my longing for God. During seasons we can become overly familiar with God and stop longing for Him, and perhaps begin longing for the things of this world.
P - Dear Father, I claim to follow your son Jesus, but confess at times my longing for you has decreased. I repent from these actions that have caused me to head away from you, and sincerely ask you Lord to help increase my faith, and long for you. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
